Busia court sentences terror suspect to 30 years in prison

A Busia court has sentenced a terror suspect to 30 years in prison bringing to an end a two and a half year trial that began in December 2021.

Jackton Jacob Kanoti alias Abdul Hakim was arrested in Siaya in possession of incriminating materials and a mobile phone which he used to collect terrorism related videos from various telegram groups.

“A Busia court yesterday slapped a terror suspect with 30 years in prison, after the judgement in a two and half year trial that kicked off on December 18, 2021. The terrorist, Jackton Jacob Kanoti alias Abdul Hakim, was arrested in Siaya township for his involvement with the Al-Shabaab and the Islamic State of Iraq terror groups.

At the time of his arrest, the Jackton was found with incriminating materials related to terrorist acts, as well as a mobile phone through which he accessed terrorism-related information via videos and chats from various telegram groups.

The court established beyond reasonable doubt that the evidence adduced by the prosecution was credible and consistent for conviction, thus sentencing the accused person to 30 years in prison.” said DCI Kenya
