Coast Regional Police Commander Ali Nuno has issued shoot-to-kill orders against machete-wielding gangs terrorizing residents in the region.
Speaking on Saturday, Nuno noted that police officers need to protect themselves from the danger posed by these gangs, who have become a menace and are known for conducting violent robberies in Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale regions.
- Five gang members arrested in Nakuru and an AK-47 recovered
- Two gang-rape and robbery with violence suspects arrested in Kisumu
“All those men and ladies involved in crime for one reason or another, your days are numbered,” he said
“Crime doesn’t pay. You have two options: desist and accept salvation, or move out of the entire Coast region. Where we are justified to use our firearms, we will not hesitate,” he continued
The remarks by Nuno reveal the extent of cases in the region, especially from a gang known as panga boys, who have also targeted businesses where they injured the owners before stealing goods.
A recent CCTV footage revealed the gang terrorizing a shop operator in the city before making off with some of his goods. The attendant had visible blood stains following the attack.
