Eight prisoners escape Koru police station in Kisumu

A total of eight prisoners have on Thursday escaped from Koru police station in Muhoroni,  Kisumu County ahead of their appearance in court.

The eight are part of ten prisoners who had been transferred from Kodiaga on Wednesday and were supposed to appear before Menara law courts.

It was during a trip to the latrine that all the ten prisoners made the bold decision to overpower a police officer.

Confirming the news was Citizen TV who said that two of the prisoners were re-arrested as they had cuffs on but the remaining eight are still at large.

“As PC Kemei was opening the cell’s door the other nine remandees pushed the door and PC Kemei fell down due to the impact. As they found their way outside and ran in different directions, PC Gachie became overwhelmed as he tried to scare them by firing in the air,” confirmed Citizen TV
