While many university graduates aim for office jobs after finishing their education, Kimutai Maselus decided to take a different route—agribusiness—demonstrating that farming can be highly rewarding.
At only 28, Kimutai successfully manages a flourishing fruit farm in Eldoret, located in Uasin Gishu County. He grows a variety of fruits, including apples, avocados, and passion fruits.
Describing his path into agriculture, Kimutai shared that his fascination with apple farming began after he discovered, through extensive research, a local shortage of apples despite high demand. His business now includes both fruit cultivation and the sale of seedlings. According to him, apple seedlings are especially profitable. “Apples generate more revenue for me because I sell each seedling at Sh800. In just two years, a farmer can earn as much as Sh30,000 from a single apple tree,” he said.
