Equity Group has reported a 24% year-on-year growth in Profit After Tax in there just announced Q1 performance ising to Ksh. 19.1 billion.
The news follows the bank’s restructuring to accomodate digital and AI advancements that will be build a future ready institution.

The Group has reported a 24% year-on-year growth in Profit After Tax, rising to Ksh. 19.1 billion in Q1 2026 from Ksh. 15.4 billion recorded in Q1 2025, demonstrating the continued success of our deliberate transformation into a resilient, technology-led Pan-African financial services Group,” said Equity
At the same time, the balance sheet of the group rose by 16% to 2.04 trillion driven by a 13% increase in customer deposits and 9% increase in net loans.
Subsidiaries contributed to 50% of the groups profitability and 52% of the group’s net assets, cementing its position in assets across the continent. Equity Tanzania let in terms of growth at 150% followed by Rwanda at 36% and Equity DRC at 32% in profit after tax.
“The balance sheet grew by 16% to Ksh 2.04 trillion, driven by a 13% rise in customer deposits and a 9% increase in net loans, reflecting strong customer trust and growing economic activity across the Group’s markets.
Regional subsidiaries now contribute 50% of Group banking profitability and 52% of total banking assets, marking a major milestone in Equity’s journey to becoming a continental champion. Strong growth was recorded across the region, led by Equity Bank Tanzania (+150%), Equity Bank Rwanda (+36%), and Equity Bank DRC (+32%) in Profit After Tax.
Equity Insurance Group also sustained strong momentum, with gross written premiums rising by 30% to Ksh 4.5 billion and Profit Before Tax increasing by 53% to Ksh 0.64 billion,” said Equity bank
