Eveleen Mitei appointed TSC acting CEO

Eveleen Mitei has been appointed the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) acting CEO as Nancy Macharia kicks off her terminal leave pending her retirement set for June 30th.

Through a letter to the commission, Nancy Macharia thanked all the staff at TSC for their assistance during her term in charge.

“It is with a sense of humility and gratitude that I write to inform you that I am proceeding on Terminal Leave with effect from today, June 1, 2025, pending my retirement from the Teachers Service Commission on June 30, 2025, after serving the Commission in various capacities.

June 30, 2015, marked the beginning of my journey as the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), a position I have held with great humility for the last ten (10) years.

During my tenure, I have had the privilege of serving over 350,000 teachers, steered the implementation of the 2017-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) valued at Ksh 54 billion, navigated the Commission through turbulent teacher strikes of 2018 and 2019, survived 47 court cases, and steered education reforms during the COVID-19 pandemic that threatened to ground the education sector.

It is a journey that has been full of challenges, opportunities, and significant milestones that have impacted positively on the teaching service.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, the former President of the Republic of Kenya, for appointing me to this position, and His Excellency Hon. William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, for the support accorded to me during my tenure.

My gratitude also goes to the TSC Chair, the Commissioners, the Senior Management Team, and the entire TSC staff for the unwavering support and teamwork in serving the teaching service and advancing education reforms in the Country.” said Nancy Macharia

She continued by confirming the appointment of Eveleen Mitei as the acting CEO and Secretary pending the arrival of her successor.

“As I proceed on terminal leave, I am glad to inform you that the Commission has appointed Ms. Eveleen Mitei to act as the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer pending the appointment of my successor.

I urge you to accord her the necessary support as we transition into a new phase of leadership at the Commission.

Looking to the future, I am confident that you will accord my successor the same support and commitment to serve the teaching service, the education sector, and the children of this great nation.

I thank you for the opportunity to serve as the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of this great Commission.” she said
