FKF President Hussein Mohammed suspended over Ksh 42M fraud

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has been suspended over Ksh 42 million fraud as confirmed by the federation’s National Executive Committee.

Also suspended alongside Mohammed was the federation’s NEC member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim, and acting Secretary General Dennis Gicheru pending further investigation.

According to NEC, the leadership at FKF is questionable, especially on matters of public finance, governance, and financial management.

The committee further raised questions as to whether the FKF constitution was breached, leading to the loss of the funds under unclear circumstances.

During the meeting, FKF’s NEC members reiterated the need for a fully functional board to restore public confidence. Other matters discussed include the need not to interfere with investigations.

The members also agreed that Macdonald Mariga Wanyama will take over the role of the President in an acting capacity pending investigations into the fraud.

Mariga’s first assignment includes calling an immediate FKF meeting, which comes at a time when the federation called for the immediate freezing of the federation’s bank accounts until the matter is investigated and a verdict is revealed.
