The government through the Ministry of Education has lowered university fees across all programmes.
Confirming the news was Higher Education Principal Secretary Dr. Beatrice Inyangala who said that the decision was a result of extensive discussions between them, the students, and other stakeholders.

“In direct response to concerns raised by students and their families, the Government has lowered fees payable by students across all academic programmes,” she said through a memo
She continued by saying that the new fees will ensure affordable, accessible and quality university education and all also maintain the financial stability of the institutions.
The new fee structure will take effect on 1st September 2025 and will be applicable to both first and continuing students.
“All public universities are further directed to update their admissions and finance portals to reflect the revised fees of academic programmes,” she said
