Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has tendered an apology for issuing a wrong report regarding investigations into the murder of influencer Albert Ojwang.
“I tender my apology on behalf of the NPS because of that information,” he said
The IG was speaking as he appeared before the Senate where he said he will not issue any statements until when an investigation is done by he Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

He continued by promising to take action against the officer who gave him the report on the cause of Albert Ojwang’s suicide.
“If in the ongoing investigations by IPOA, we get to know the truth. The officers who issued the initial report will have to face disciplinary procedures.” he said
From what we’ve heard here, we will proceed and take necessary measures against the officer who gave us the material on that day.” he continued
The Senators also quizzed Kanja to know why the CCTV camera was tempered with during the fateful day and why Albert was transferred from Homa Bay to Nairobi.
“IPOA is investigating the entire scene of the crime and will tell us what happened with the CCTV footage. If there’s anyone involved in that, punishment must be meted out to the officer,” said the IG
