Joho was however advised by a section of leaders to go slow on the issue and seek the collaboration of others as he welcomed the endorsement.

Other leaders also advised him to take the mantle of ODM leadership from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga if he wins the AUC chairmanship job. Also eying the same position is former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo called on leaders from the Coast not to allow themselves be divided on political grounds and instead remain united as a region.

“Of all those who want to succeed Raila no one matches Joho, no one, so all of us as brothers lets unite and ensure we support Joho,” said Senator Madzayo
