A 19-year-old Kenyan living in the U.S has been charged with having child sexual abuse material, bringing into account the number of Kenyans facing serious charges in the United States.
The Kenyan teen, identified as Reyvon Macharia, was arrested after the police obtained a search warrant at his apartment in Frederick, Maryland.

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office searched following the circulation of child sexual materials on an online platform, before tracing it back to his account.
During the search, the police were able to seize several electronic devices, which were taken in for further investigation. Macharia was taken to Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he remains in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Macharia is among several Kenyans who have been arrested in the US over similar allegations. In 2024, Brian Kibiwot Chuchuney was arrested in Arizona for kidnapping a 70-year-old woman.
Brian was sentenced to 20 years for the offense.
