Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has defended the government’s fuel subsidy and fertiliser reforms terming them neccessary to cushion Kenyans.
Speaking from Elgeyo Marakwet, Kindiki noted that they inherited a struggling economy and that the measures were neccessary to cushion Kenyans against the rising cost of living.
He continued by praising Kenya Kwanza saying that the current regime has implemented a number of measures to enable farmers have access to fertilizer at affordable prices thus boost food production.

“We were able to reduce the prices of fertiliser to support farmers across the country,” he said
He continued by saying that the government has reduced pump prices gradually overtime to cushion Kenyans and businesses from rising fuel prices that could have a spiriling effect on the economy.
“Consistently, we reduced fuel prices by about Sh43 gradually over time to protect Kenyans and support the economy.
The fuel prices problem is not local. It is an external problem caused by the war between Israel, Iran, and the United States,” he continued
The Deputy President termed the current rising fuel issue as a global crisis causing shortages in supply of the precious commodity.
He called on leaders to embrace unity and offer economic solution rather than spreading misleading information to Kenyans.
