The National Police Service (NPS) have addressed allegations of an officer caught on camera harassing a journalist in Majengo area, Nairobi.
Through a statement, NPS strongly condemned the incident and gravely concerned about the misconduct and that a firm and decisive action will be taken against any officer caught committing such a misconduct.

“As a service, we are gravely concerned and strongly condemn such misconduct, firm and decisive action will be taken against any officer found to have engaged in misconduct.” read the statement in parts
They continued by maintaining that the police maintain a cordial relationship with the media and is committed to safeguarding and promoting media freedom.
“The National Police Service maintains a cordial relationship with the media and is committed to safeguarding and promoting media freedom, as well as protecting journalists in Kenya, in line with the Constitution and international standards.” read the statement.
The statement comes at a time when NTV noted that an officer blocked a photographer from accessing his camera as another one deleted footage from there crew member.

The journalist were in Majengo covering news of a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly shot dead by a police leading to protests.
