Veteran Kenyan writer Ngugi wa Thiong’o has been cremated in the United States as per his final wishes as confirmed by the family.
Confirming the news was his son Mukoma wa Ngugi who said that it was his father’s last wish that he be cremated once he passes away.

Even though the practice is against the African tradition, Mukoma noted that they had to honour his last wish.
Ngugi wa Thiong’o passed away on May 28th in Atlanta Georgia at the age of 87 years. In the U.S, he was a proffesrer at various universities.
