Orders blocking removal of Sifuna as ODM Secetary General extended

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna can now breath easy after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) extended order blocking his removal as ODM Secretary General.

The tribunal further directed all parties to furnish them with all the neccessay submission before 12th March 2026.

Sifuna was stripped off his position on 11th February 2026 following a ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Mombasa.

The party cited discipline as the reason behind his removal before moving forward and installing his then deputy and Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo as the acting Secretary General until when a new SG is appointed.

Sifuna however managed to block the move after moving to the Tribunal where he was granted a temporary relief pending hearing.

ODM has since challenged the decision saying that the tribuna has no jurisdication in the matter and that Sifuna’s removal should be published in the Kenya Gazette.

The news follows discussions that the removal of the Nairobi Senator was politically motivated and that it highlights the deep cracks in ODM following the demise of its party leader.
