Philip Aroko, key suspect in MP Charles Were’s murder released on Ksh 300K cash bail

Businessman Philip Aroko, a key suspect in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were has been released on Ksh 300,00 cash bail.

Appearing before JKIA Law Courts Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi, Aroko was ordered to surrender his passport to the court and prohibited from travelling to Homa Bay until when the case is heard and determined.

The court also prohibited the business from contacting family members of the deceased, other suspects in the case and any individuals linked to the case.

Also directed by the court is that he should refrain from indulging in activities that will interfere with the investigations.

Aroko will now be required to report to the investigating officer and assist in any information required in the investigation.

It was the plight of the prosecution team that the businessman should be held in custody until when the investigation is done.

“”We’ve heard the respondent… he has been cooperating, but we’re investigating the death of a deceased, and this case is of public interest. It is essential that he is detained for seven days to help us determine his level of involvement. We will either bring charges or request his release after this period,” they said
