Plane-sized asteroid will pass Earth next week, says NASA

NASA experts have confirmed that a plane-sized asteroid will pass near Earth next week, as they aim to inform the public that the encounter is routine.

Dubbed 2025 OW, the asteroid measures approximately  210 feet in length and will pass Earth at a speed of roughly 393,000 miles.

Its speed has been estimated to be 46,908 miles per hour, something that NASA experts say is normal and should not cause any panic.

“This is very routine,” said NASA’s media relations specialist Ian J. O’Neill

“Close approaches happen all the time — it’s just part of the fabric of the solar system,” said asteroid expert at NASA’s Center, Davide Farnocchia.

NASA’s team will start from next week studying 2025 OW as just an asteroid passing Earth through its orbit without posing any danger.

“We know exactly where it’s going to be. We’ll probably know where it’s going to be for the next 100 years,” said O’Neill
