Police Constable James Mukhwana has on Thursday been arrested over the mysterious murder of social media influencer Albert Ojwang.
Mukhwana was arrested by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and officers drawn from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the National Police Service.

“Please be informed that PC James Mukhwana of Central Police Station Nairobi was arrested today 12/06/2025 and placed in custody at Capitol Hill Police Station by officers from IAU and IPOA and is to be charged with the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with Section 204 of the penal code following the death of one Albert Ojwang,” read the police report
Albert Ojwang was arrested at his home by DCI detectives over a controversial tweet he had posted before he was taken to Nairobi.
He was however taken to Mbagathi Hospital hours later where he had been confirmed dead with the police saying that he hit his head inside the police cell at Central Police Station.
IG Douglas Kanja apologized over the statement as he promised to issue another statement after IPOA finalizes with their investigations.
