“The High Court has sentenced ex-police officers Emmanuel Barasa and Godwine Wekesa to 35 years in jail each, for the murder of Dennis Lusava at Mbururu Police Post in Likuyani, Kakamega County. The officers tortured Dennis to death and later dumped his body in River Nzoia,” said IPOA
The news follows the High Court verdict, which found the two officers guilty of the crime after the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that they were indeed guilty.
Emmanuel and Godwine are accused of torturing and killing Dennis following a public embarrassment that occurred on 4th October 2022.
They first lured the deceased to the police station, where they locked him before assaulting him with kicks, blows, and using an electric cable.
