The news will definitely be welcomed by Kenyans as they have been paying Ksh 300 to obtain the crucial document.
The amount was also set to hike to Ksh 2,000 as hinted by the government but the gazette notice was revoked much to the relief of many Kenyans.
At the same time, the cost of replacing the ID was hiked from Ksh 100 to Ksh 1,000, an amount that at first had been proposed to be Ksh 2,000.
The news comes at a time when President William Ruto made a declaration abolishing the old vetting system to obtain the crucial document in border counties raising eyebrows and questions among many quotas.
