Sakaja lifts suspension on approvals of architectural plans in Nairobi

Governor Johnson Sakaja has lifted the suspension on approvals of building in Nairobi days after he stopped the exercise due to the heavy rains that were there.

Through a statement from his office, Sakaja noted that professionals and representatives of the shareholders have a say in the approvals of the building plans moving forward.

“Arising from, the Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) through the acting County Secretary’s office, has written to various stakeholders requesting them to forward names of professionals and representatives will now form part of the task force. The task force shall convene on the 12th of June to commence the audit exercise across the city,” read the statement.

The representatives and professionals have now been given two months to submit their proposals to the Governor for approval.

Also lifted by Governor Sakaja are the permit requirement and fees to renovate houses affected by floods in the county.

Sakaja has reinstituted the Urban Technical Committee which will incorporate architects, urban planners and engineers and environmentalists. The work of the committee is give guidance on issuance of permits.
