The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has siigned a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with three teachers unions that will improve the salaries of teachers at a cost of Ksh 33.7 billion.
The four year plan that will run from 2025 to 2029 was signed in Nairobi after a year long negotiation involving the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET).

“After the long journey of detailed and thorough negotiations, we are delighted to inform our more than 400,000 teachers that we have a CBA deal for the period 2025-2029, which we have signed with the elected representatives of KNUT, KUSNET, and KUPPET today.” read the stateement
TSC will also recruit additional new teachers that will cost the taxpayer Ksh 2.4 billion, two years after they recruited 76,000 teachers across the country.
Teachers will also receive promotion under new plans by the commission at a cost pf Ksh 1 billion.
Under the new CBA, teachers across the country will see their salaries increased by 29.5 percent across various cadres of staff over a period of four years.
