WFP facility set on fire at Kalobeyei in Kakuma

A World Food Programme (WFP) facility in Kalobeyi, Kakuma, was set on fire by angry residents on Monday.

According to sources, the cause of the inferno was from area residents who opposed a move by the organization to withdraw Bamba chakula payment method of buying food.

“Protesters have allegedly set fire to part of a WFP facility at Kalobeyei in Kakuma. A refugee at the camp in Kenya sent me this video.

People are protesting the withdrawal of “Bamba Chakula” payments to buy food.” said Adrian Blomfield

A video seen by Newsmoto revealed huge smoke rising into the air and coming from the direction of a makeshift tent. No one was on site to put off the inferno.
