Airtel Kenya launches 5G network in sixteen counties

Airtel Kenya has launched its 5G network across sixteen counties in the countries becoming the second network operator to do.

Speaking during the launch was Airtel’s Managing Director Ashish Malhotra who said that they have constructed 370 active site of the network in 180 wards across the country.

“Today marks a significant milestone as we proudly introduce our 5G network, a state-of-the-art infrastructure that provides data speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G, incredibly low latency, and the ability to seamlessly connect billions of devices.

Airtel 5G will revolutionize various sectors, such as smart cities, education, healthcare, Agri-tech, transport systems, entertainment, and more, shaping the future of Kenya,” said Ashish

Speaking during the launch was ICT CS Eliud Owalo who welcomed it saying that 5G network will lead to the development of new industries and improve service delivery in many sectors including health and education.

The telco giants will now target highly populated areas including residential area, malls, hospitals and central business districts.

They will also inform customers in such areas that they are in a 5G ready zone so as to spur its use and attract many to their network.

Safaricom which was the first company to roll out 5G network in the country has already registered 373,573 active users as at October last year with the number expected to rise with time.
