Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga released by abductors

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has been released by his abductors following his 24 hour stay at their hands.

Njenga is reported to have been dropped by the abductors in Limuru, Kiambu County who then facilitated his transport back to his house where he had been abducted.

Confirming his release was his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru who noted that his release following a press stateement made yesterday.

“Client Maina Njenga finally RELEASED by the rogue police hit squad after our press conference.” said the Advocate

On Sunday, Azimio stood in solidarity with the former Mungiki leader terming his arrest political and a way to threaten the opposition and its leaders.

“We are here to join and stand in solidarity with Mr. Maina Njenga, who was abducted yesterday and whose whereabouts remain unknown.

We strongly condemn the gang-style abduction of Mr. Njenga and his continued persecution without any charges being preferred against him. His family is being kept in the dark regarding his whereabouts.

The information we have suggests that the abductors did not identify themselves, nor did they state that he was under arrest. All indications point to this being an operation carried out by rogue police.

The abductors were driving Subarus, armed, and hooded. It is highly likely that they were part of the Special Support Unit, known for terrorizing Kenyans during the anti-tax protests. The SSU is evidently still active and determined to intimidate and harm Kenyans.” said Azimio

According to Azimio, the Kenya Kwanza government is slowly becoming desperate and dictatorial, something that they must fight and demand for freedom.

“Finally, we want to let Kenyans know that we are in a very dangerous terrain. Kenya Kwanza has failed, and it is becoming desperate and increasingly brutal and dictatorial. We must stand firm, fight, and demand our freedoms and all other rights.” said Azimio
