Siaya, Kenya — September 18th 2025………Governor James Orengo on Wednesday evening hosted the Siaya Business Community for a consultative meeting in preparation for the highly anticipated Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO 2025).
The meeting brought together representatives from diverse sectors of the county economy, including the Jua Kali Association, hoteliers, manufacturers, agribusiness players, boda boda operators, and the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Siaya Chapter, among others.
The four-day conference, themed “Positioning Siaya County as an Investment Destination: Transformative Growth through Trade and Investment”, will be held at the Siaya National Polytechnic from October 14th to 17th, 2025. It is set to be a premier economic platform bringing together local and international investors, private sector leaders, development partners, and key government institutions to showcase Siaya as a competitive trade and investment hub.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Orengo expressed gratitude to the business community for their steadfast commitment to building the county’s economy.
“Our business community are the primary investors and drivers of Siaya’s economic transformation. SITICO 2025 is as much your platform as it is the county’s. I urge all of you to register, participate, and seize the opportunities that this event will open up for Siaya,” Governor Orengo said.
The Governor further emphasized that the engagement of local businesses is critical in ensuring that the benefits of SITICO extend beyond the conference, translating into jobs, improved livelihoods, and sustainable growth across the county.
The meeting with the business community comes just days after a Siaya delegation visited Kakuzi Limited in Murang’a, where they held fruitful discussions with Managing Director Mr. Chris Flowers and his team. The delegation was taken on a guided tour of the farm, including the orchards, and explored opportunities for collaboration.
The parties agreed on areas of cooperation, particularly in providing technical assistance to avocado farmers in Siaya. Kakuzi also confirmed its participation in SITICO 2025, underscoring the growing interest in Siaya’s investment potential.
Preparations for SITICO 2025 are already underway, with stakeholders rallying behind the county government to position Siaya on the regional and global investment map.
