American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected the new Pope of the Catholic Church by 133 Cardinals who attended the ceremony.
Shortly after it was confirmed that the Cardinals had elected new Pope, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was introduced to the world as he greeted the world for the first time as a pope.

Initially, Cardinal Protodeacon Dominique Mamberti confirmed that Cardinal Prevost had taken the name Pope Leo XIV.
“I announce to you a great joy; we have a Pope: The Most Eminent and Most Reverend Lord, Lord Robert Francis Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church Prevost who has taken the name Leo XIV.” he said
“Pope Leo XIV greets the world for the first time to grant his Urbi et Orbi blessing. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected as the 267th Successor of Peter by the 133 Cardinal electors on Thursday, May 8.” said Vatican News
