HACO Industries partners with Mr. Green Africa to advance Circular Economy through Post-Consumer Recyclate Collection

HACO Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with Mr. Green Africa to strengthen post-consumer recyclate (PCR) collection and implement a take-back scheme aligned with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles. The collaboration marks a significant step in advancing sustainable manufacturing and circular economy practices within Kenya’s FMCG sector.

Through this partnership, HACO will support the recovery of plastic packaging waste from the market, enabling responsible recycling while reducing environmental leakage. Mr. Green Africa will leverage its established collection and recycling network to aggregate post-consumer plastics, integrating them back into the value chain and supporting livelihoods within informal and formal waste collection ecosystems.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment to closing the loop on plastic waste – moving beyond linear consumption models toward regenerative systems that prioritize resource efficiency, environmental stewardship, and community impact.

Speaking on the collaboration, HACO Managing Director, Mary-Ann Musangi emphasized that, “Sustainability is increasingly becoming a core business imperative, requiring practical partnerships that translate environmental responsibility into measurable outcomes. By embedding EPR principles into our operations, we are reinforcing our commitment to responsible production, waste accountability, and long-term environmental resilience.”

Mr. Green Africa noted that collaborations with manufacturers are essential to scaling recycling infrastructure and driving systemic change. The partnership will contribute to strengthening Kenya’s recycling ecosystem while creating economic opportunities for waste collectors and processors.

Beyond material recovery, the collaboration also supports broader ESG objectives by promoting sustainable consumption, enhancing traceability across the plastics value chain, and contributing to national efforts to reduce plastic pollution.

This partnership represents a growing shift within the manufacturing sector toward shared responsibility – where producers, recyclers, and communities work together to build circular systems that benefit both people and planet.Bottom of Form
