Kai Havertz late header sends Arsenal top of the table

German international Kai Havertz came off the bench to score against Brentford and send Arsenal top of the Premier League table.

The league which was resuming after an international break saw Mikel Arteta’s side take on well structured Brentford which was hard to break.

The clash also marked the return of captain Martin Odegaard who was definitely struggling to find his form. Leandro Trossard netted before the break but his goal was ruled offside given his position before Gabriel Jesus hit the ball.

Aaron Ramsdale who was marking his Premier League return given David Raya’s loan agreement with Brentford made an error which was covered by Declan Rice at the line.

In the second half, the England international made his second error of the night but recovered well to clear the ball promptly once received at the back.

Mikel Arteta who was running out of patience for a quick response brought in Kai Havertz in place for Gabriel Martinelli and in the 88th minute he headed home a Bukayo Saka’s cross to send the Gunners top of the table ahead of Manchester City who were held by third place Liverpool.
