Liverpool beat Bournemouth to go five points clear

Premier League giants Liverpool recorded their fifth consecutive win beating Bournemouth and going five points clear at the top of the table.

In what was to be a tough fixture for Jurgen Klopp’s side, both teams were hesitant to pull a goal in the first half and that was the case sending both sides level at the break.

In the first half, Klopp was angered by a Justin Kluivert’s challenge on Luiz Diaz that went unpunished when a similar one saw Curtis Jones sent off during their fixture against Tottenham earlier in the season.

Five into the second half, Darwin Nunez who has been under to make an impact swept in from an impressive team effort to give the visitors the lead much to the surprise of Bournemouth players.

In the 70th minute, Diogo Jota doubled the lead for the Reds as he finished from near post and the Portuguese was at it again nine minutes later to cement the lead much to the delight of the fans and the coach.

Nunez also finished his brace for the evening sending Liverpool five points clear of Manchester City who have 43 points, level with Arsenal who demolished Crystal Palace on Saturday even though Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.

The win also piles on Guardiola who has a real league challenger given the poor run of form by Arsenal and consistency demonstrated by Liverpool lately even when they are without the service of Mohamed Salah.
