Alex Maina, the main suspect behind the assault and gouging out of Baby Sagini’s eyes has been sentenced to 40 years in jail.
Issuing the ruling was Kisii Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno who also sentenced the two other suspects Pacificah Nyakerario and Rael Nyakerario to 10 and 5 years in jail respectively.
“Kisii Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno has sentenced Alex Maina, the main suspect in the grievous assault and gouging out eyes of Baby Junior Sagini, to 40 years behind bars.

The court also handed the other two suspects Pacificah Nyakerario 10 years and Rael Nyakerario 5 years in prison. The three persons were found guilty of harming and gouging 3 years old baby Sagini’s eyes in 2022.
The court was told how the three family members who are well known to the victim formed a common intention to harm the three year old,” said ODPP
As the judgement was delivered, Baby Sagini and his sister are still in protective custody after it was established that their lives could be in danger.
