Manchester United and Arsenal knocked out of Carabao Cup

Both Manchester United and Arsenal suffered defeat against Newcastle and West Ham respectively to be knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal who were the first one to play rested a number of their first team players including Declan Rice, Saka, Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba.

The Gunners who stood favorites to win the clash found themselves behind before the break when Ben White headed the ball into the back of his own net following a West Ham corner.

In the second half, Arsenal’s miseries continued after Kudus low ball went in between Gabriel’s legs and into the net. West Ham striker Bowen sealed their fate when his well taken shot was deflected off Kiwior before hitting Ramsdale’s arm and into the net.

Martin Odegaard who came in as a substitute pulled one for the Gunners in extra time when it was indeed late.

Manchester United who faced Newcastle after their 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League suffered the same defeat once again at Old Trafford.

Almiron and Hall gave the visitors the lead in the first half and eight minutes apart before Joe Willock cemented their win thanks to a low shot that went past Andre Onana.

Liverpool will now face West Hama and Chelsea will face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter final.
