It is more pain for motorists in the country after the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) hiked the prices of diesel and petrol.
In the period under review, diesel prices will increase by Ksh 46.29 per litre, petrol by Ksh 16.65 per litre while the price of Kerosine remains unchanged.

“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th May 2026 to 14th June 2026.
In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol and Diesel increases by KShs.16.65/litre and KShs.46.29/litre respectively while the price of Kerosene remain unchanged.
In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Kshs.214.25, Kshs.242.92 and Kshs.152.78 effective midnight for the next 30 days,” said EPRA
The new prices will not only affect motorist but also Kenyans at large as inflation will creap in quicky and affect the purchasing power of Kenyans.
It is still unclear why the government approved the new prices as the last review saw Kenyans raise questions leading a drop in the prices and later a drop in VAT on petroleum products to 8%.
