Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has been arrested after assaulting Malaha MCA Peter Walunya.
The Friday incident that took place during a funeral in Kakamega saw the MP charged with causing bodily harm and causing disturbance.
Two of the MPs bodyguards were also arrested and disarmed after they shot in the air as the scuffle ensured during the funeral.

Hon. Peter Salasya was however released on Ksh 50,000 cash bail pending court hearing set for Tuesday next week.
In the video, the MP had been called to grieve with the mourners where he acknowledged the role of the family in his life.
“First and foremost, let me send my condolences to the family. I remember the family would always make me feel welcome every time I visited them. That’s the reason why I decided to come and console the family today. We pray that God will continue resting his soul in eternal peace. Thank you,” said the Legislator.
The MCA who was no far from him called the MP to order and to observe protocol in the event. Salasya demanded the MCA to sit down before he was agitated and slapped him causing chaos.
In May 2023, a similar incident happened in Khwisero when several MCAs attempted to block the MP from speaking.
