Telcom giant Safaricom has updated the My One App platform to accommodate rival networks, including Airtel, thus easing transactions among users in diaspora.
The update rolled out this week comes at a time when users raised complaints of being logged out when they switched to other mobile networks. The disconnection forced users to log back into the app using Safaricom’s data.

The changes have been welcomed by users in Diaspora who had raised complaints that My One App was becoming expensive for them, as they had to switch to roaming bundles before accessing it.
Following its launch in April, users of the app raised concerns, including forced logouts, login failure, and unstable access, an issue that was acknowledged by Safaricom.
Even after releasing the update, some requirements on the app remain the same, including the need to use Safaricom’s data for first-time logins and not the use of WiFi connections.
My One App was released in April of this year and houses all Safaricom services, including M-Pesa, fibre services, airtime purchases, and other mini apps.
