Search underway for two KRA officials swept away by floods

A search operation is underway to recover the bodies of two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials swept away by floods in Lunga Lunga.

The Friday incident occurred as the officers were heading to Mombasa from Lunga Lunga when the vehicle they were in was swept away by flash floods.

Confirming the incident was KRA which confirmed that their employees are missing as they termed the incident unfortunate.

“We would like to inform the public of an unfortunate flooding incident that occurred on the evening of Friday, 17 November 2023. 2 KRA officers have since been reported missing after the vehicle they were travelling in was swept away by the raging floods.

The officers were travelling to Mombasa from Lunga-Lunga where they are stationed when the accident happened. The vehicle was swept by floods at Ramisi River in Kwale County.”  said KRA

The taxman continued by confirming that a multi-agency operation is underway to retrieve their bodies as they continue updating their families.

“We have engaged family members of the two officers and an intensive search and rescue operation by a Government multi-agency team is underway.

We will continuously update the family members and the public on the progress and outcome of the rescue mission. The safety and well-being of KRA employees remains the Authority’s first priority and all machinery is being deployed for a positive outcome,” said KRA
