Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has signed an executive order no 1. banning Muguka in the county.
Speaking after the news, the Governor noted that hospitals in county including Mewa have confirmed that the consumption of the drug is dangerous to the body.
He continued by saying that consumption of 20 leaves of the substance causes toxication of one’s mind. According to Governor Nassir, he has held discussion with various stakeholders and the only solution he had come to is the total ban of the drug.

Moving forward, entry, sale and consumption of Muguka in Mombasa has been banned.
The news has however drawn mixed reaction with traders questioning its timing and where they will get their daily income saying that through the trade, they have been able to fend for their families.
Others have welcomed the news saying that it was about time that the drug is prohibited to protect the youth who have lost direction and instead focus on it and not their future.
