Vinícius Jr racially abused by Benfica’s Prestianni

Vinícius Jr was allegedly racially abused by Gianluca Prestianni during their Champions League knock out round on Teusday night.

The incident which occurred immediately after the Brazilian scored the only goal of the night, saw the Benfica player cover his mouth with the shirt before the Brazilian quickly dashed to the referree to report the incident.

Jose Mourinho who also received the complaints revealed that he had listened to both parties and will look at the incident independently.

Kylian Mbappe defended Vini Jr saying that Prestianni uttered racist words five times and that he should be banned from playing the Champions League.

“Prestianni clearly called Vini Jr a monkey, it happened five times”, he said. “I saw that. UEFA have the best cameras, now we wait. This is not acceptable. It’s not my kind of human being”, he continued

“Benfica are a top club, nothing against them… but Prestianni should NEVER play in UCL anymore”.

“Did Prestianni apologize? Did you see his face? An apology? We’re not stupid, me and Vini… we saw what he said”, said Mbappe

Prestianni however denied the allegations saying that the Brazilian misunderstood what he heard.

“I want to clarify that at no time did I direct racist insults to Vini Jr, who regrettably misunderstood what he thought he heard”.

“I was never racist with anyone and I regret the threats I received from Real Madrid players”, he said
