Murkomen urges seriousness among Kenyans living in high-risk areas

Interior CS Kopchumba Murkomen has urged Kenyans living in high-risk areas to take seriously the warnings issued by the government over heavy rains experienced across the country.

Speaking on Saturday, the CS warned residents of Kerio Valley, part of the Coast region, and Turkana, that they face the danger of floods and mudslides.

“Nawaomba sana, msimu huu kama vile tumetangaza kama wizara, kuna mvua nyingi sana inakuja kwa sehemu nyingi, ikiwa pamoja na hii Kerio Valley Escapement,” said Murkomen

He continued by warning those travelling to stay alert and that some areas risk being cut off by the heavy rains.

According to Murkomen, those living in risky areas should take the advice of local administrators when told to move to higher areas.

“Wale ambao wanaishi sehemu ambazo inaonekana kama kuna mudslide ama landslide, tunataka wao washirikiane na county commissioner na our chiefs kuhakikisha ya kwamba mkiambiwa musonge tusonge,” said the CS

The CS once again reminded Kenyans that the government has issued all the necessary warningsings and that it will be unfortunate if people’s lives are lost at this point.
